What would a seasoned negotiator say about navigating conflict today? What are some practical methods to use during conflict, and potholes to avoid in everyday life? Our service on April 28th is a chance for us to explore these questions.

For a decade, Cheryl Austin negotiated collective agreements with 35 different labor unions throughout North America, in the service and mining industries. Her goal was to establish a respectful environment where problems could be solved. This approach was very counter-culture. The norm was adversarial and often hostile. Her unique approach to conflict and relationships sometimes invited less than stellar reactions, however, it worked.

Cheryl will also share how conflict can be an invitation for spiritual growth. This perspective is drawn from the tradition of the Trappists, and contemplative spirituality.
