Nelson Mandela said, “No one is born hating another person because of the color of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.” And James Baldwin said, “I imagine of the reasons people cling to their hates so stubbornly is because they sense, once hate is gone, they will be forced to deal with pain.” We will look at how people are taught to be racist in their family of origins and the difficulties people experience in letting go of that hate and prejudice.
