“What Was I So Scared of Anyway?” with Rev. Linda Ochi

ALL ARE WELCOME! You BELONG at Beacon – Spiritually open and intentionally inclusive since 1958.

“Fear is the Mind Killer” is one of Frank Herbert’s most famous quotes from his novel Dune. The message this Sunday is about ways we can engage our minds and bodies to think and act in the face of our fears. The first part of the message will focus on personal fears, and in the second part we will look at fear of violence in public spaces. With Linda Ochi, preaching, and worship assistant Lynda Dorweiler. Musical interludes will be provided by accompanist Pete Garcia and hymns will be led by music director Andrew Schroeder.

Going Deeper Discussion Group – 11:15 to 11:45 – A short discussion will take place in the sanctuary around how other people have moved through fear to courage and healing.

Movie to go with the Message Given that our topic this week is Fear, here is a highly rated movie to go with that theme if you would like to give it a try: Strictly Ballroom – Baz Luhrmann’s directorial debut about ballroom dancers, which includes themes about fear of change, rejection, and standing out.  Available to rent from Amazon video.
