Embracing Joy in the Bleak Midwinter

The Rev. Robin Landerman Zucker, Worship Associates, and Choir

One of the most cherished Christmas hymns, “Joy to the World,” turns 300 this year. For some, lyrics like “repeat the sounding joy” are the most moving and relevant to their personal lives and to the state of the planet. This Christmas Eve, we will reflect on how to cultivates joy, both personally and globally. What does it mean to embrace joyfulness beyond “happy talk,” and how could more inner joy in ourselves bring greater joy beyond ourselves, joining the chorus as “heaven and nature sing.”
